[style]: Luberon Country House

It's been 4 years now that we visited hill towns of the Luberon region in Provence. While I will spend some time on our experiences of traveling with kids there in a separate post, I was curious to see what I could find in the short-term rental world if I were to look for a space as a base for the exploration and enjoyment of Provence this summer.

I immediately ran into this 18th century country house that perfectly embodies everything that I love about that region. But at not so perfect price tag (about $4000/week) the pictures will have to do. However, as this little country house has 4 bedrooms, it is quite doable to share the space with friends, family, etc making this very reasonable and beautiful vacation.

It is March and I am itching to travel, but we are finding ourselves at certain crossroads and uncertainty presently that is making it really hard to plan anything at this point. So I get to travel through beautiful rentals one region at the time.

About this beautiful house as described by the owners:
In the heart of a small hamlet of the Luberon, only 5 minutes from Bonnieux, this magnificent 18th century 'Bastide' has been perfectly refurbished and has kept all its authenticity.
The property offers 200 sq m of living space (beautiful fitted kitchen-dining room, living room with fireplace, 4 beautiful bedrooms with each en-suite bathrooms).

Sitting at the farmhouse table in the kitchen with the view of the Luberon as the sun rises and sets, is startling beautiful. And at night, the Marquis de Sade's chateau in Lacoste which is directly opposite is illuminated and incredibly romantic.
The kitchen features the authentic Lacanche oven, original stone flooring and antique table which seats 8.
The lounge room with original beams, flooring and large open fireplace, and has a peaceful reading corner:

There is also a smaller second lounge with Plasma TV and Blue Ray DVD player which would be great separate area for kids.

The Master Bedroom with high, grand ceilings, original flooring and a queen bed. Look at the linen bedding, windows, wooden shutters.

The second bedroom with high ceilings, original flooring and a queen bed. Furnishings and bedding are so simple yet so spectacular in their comfort and beauty.

Fourth attic bedroom with original beams, flooring and two single beds. What kid would not love to sleep here on vacation and peer outside while adults talk, or gaze to the stars?

The master bathroom with claw foot bath and original flooring:

The second bedroom ensuite bathroom with claw foot bath and original flooring:

Magnificent garden of 3,000 sq m with fruit trees and Mediterranean scents. Beautifully situated swimming pool and summer kitchen on second terrace level. Panoramic view of the most beautiful villages of the Luberon.

  1. WOW. That's all I can say about this country house. And to take a trip up to Europe for the cuisine and the wine, it's sorely tempting even at that price! Sounds like as good a reason as any to take a holiday from the storage units at work! Haha!
