[home]: Weekly Roundup

11.13.2014

I have a number of things to tackle in the house still in-between toddler games and needy infant so there is not too much time left for blogging and other things that I like. Little "store watching" or shopping that I do end up doing is with babies and that is art unto itself.... Some battles are worth fighting and some are not..

Talking about work at home - I just finally managed to rearrange summer and winter clothes (over several days really as my little one liked to "help out")...

That is our master - you can see double headboard as first one is our actual bed that we wanted to replace and second one is headboard I purchased some time ago from Home Sense that was a project in the making that was never realized. I don't like to use box spring and wanted to buy inexpensively or make platform bed some like this). Neither happened.. Well, I bought cheap Ikea bed wanting to somehow tie the two - but then just gave up on it all and decided to buy new complete bed after 13 years !!! Guess which one...

These images (but one) are from West Elm store - I really like this day bed even though there are too many pillows on it and that rug caught my eye as well... And then there is that bed...  In the photo below you can see it styled in the store and how it is styled online...

Choosing this bed is a bit of departure of what I wanted originally - as that linen headboard was more in line with what I was going with our master. This sleigh bed just caught my eye and is more modern than I originally planned - but I really like how it looks... I must have had bed on my mind when I visited Home Sense as it seems all I took photos of are textiles - bedding, pillows, napkins on sale - great to use as tea towels or make pillows out of.. I am also obsessing with wool blankets (even though one pictured below is wool and acrylic combo). I also really like these euro pillows - I am on the lookout for some for bed to act as daybed I am working on in one of the rooms..

Not too much to report from Target - I am drawn a bit to black accessories - probably because I have a task of accessorizing our basement on my mind. Funny thing is that I shied away from black decor for the longest time.. I also really like these little area throws/rugs - combo is just great...

I've been talking about wooden chess set for some time now and was surprised to see it at Chapters/Indigo... It is too small for what I am looking for, but still nice gift for someone. I also like their colour combo (red wall, black and white decor) - it just says holidays..

On the home front I am battling wilted fiddle fig tree - it used to be quite a beauty in a different location with different watering pattern and then it became this... I am now working on trying to recover it.. You can also see a bit more of my dining room from these pics..

Speaking of battles, this is what I found one morning in the laundry room.. I am yet to do reveal of it even though I've been using it and enjoying it for quite some time - but then I saw this. Well, needless to say my heart sank thinking we will have to demo it all to fix the drain. It is not yet decided what we will do - I'll probably do a complete post on that - for now we cleaned this out...

Finally, I feature my toddler on quite a few pictures with her back turned and very messy hair - she just refuses anything in her hair - she immediately takes it off. Well, one morning her hair was just so crazy that I had to share it..

Luckily she lets me comb her hair without much fuss.. even this bird nest...
